I replaced the screen on my daughters iphone 8 plus and I had to move over the home button from the broken screen. When I put everything back together the home button was not working. So I order a new home button, installed it and it doesn’t work either. Any idea what is going on?

Sounds like you might have damaged the home button flex the one that goes from the screen to the logic board. If you can, put the broken screen back on and check home button for function.
If you do need to replace the home button it must be what is called a “universal home button” or it will not work at all.

Thank you for that. Unfortunately I threw the broken screen as it was in pretty bad shape. I have set up the phone with the virtual home button for now and that seems to be working.
