upgraded phone now it wont work

I plugged my phone in to charge and of course itunes popped up. It then gave me the option to upgrade to the newest 5.0 version, which i did. My computr shut down and the phone restarted.

Now it is stuck on the apple picture and a line going vertically underneath. I cannot turn my phone at all.

Please help me.

From what I've heard when I went through upgrade with my 3GS, anything below the 3GS can not run 5.0. In other words, the 3G 2 or original iPhone can not make use of this OS. If you can connect to the computer you can do a recover, otherwise you may unfortunately be stuck with a hard reset.
