Passlock trouble after putting original ignition switch back on

My keys were taken so I decided to replace my ignition switch and keys. About a week later my keys were returned and since I hadn't bought the new switch yet I put the original one back on. Now when I crank the truck up it will turn but won't stay on. I did the hole 10 min on, 10 sec off thing but still no luck. When I turn the key on the security light no longer lights up. Someone please help me out here.

Answer this question I have this problem too

There is a short and a long reset procedure for the GM PassLock system. The 10 minute on and 10 seconds off is the short reset and works if there is a minor issue with the system. Replacing the switch probably requires the long reset procedure. The long reset just repeats the short procedure three times. You must do the steps in proper order and on time within a few seconds or you have to start all over from the beginning. This means 30 minutes 30 seconds if you get it all correct. If this doesn’t work, then something may have been disconnected during the changes, everything has to be properly connected and working for the resets to work.
