How to replace Home button flex cable

Does anyone know how to repair the flex cable for the home button. One of the spring-loaded contacts broke which I fixed with a spot of solder and a small metal prong. However I am banking it won't last forever so would like to replace the flex cable at some point.

The bit I need to replace is this

I am guessing I'll need to get the plastic button out then insert this through the hole in the top case, but how does the home button pop out?

The home button is held in by the glass digitizer - there are tabs on the left and right sides of the button.

So, if you need to replace the home button itself, you are going to have to remove the digitizer, and will need these to adhere it back in place:
