27” iMac 5k late 2015 screen issue.

Does anyone know what I’ve broken here. I changed my hard drive and was feeling quite good with myself. Until I put it back together. Have I damaged the screen or the backlight?

Ouch! You damaged the display when you took it off.

Did you follow the iFixit guide and use the special pizza cutter tool?

Yes I did, then I used the two credit card like things in the kit, but what I didn’t see was any warning about not inserting them in too far and must have been were the damage occurred.

So a new screen will fix the issue and transfer the backlight over from the damaged screen?

@tarx Yes you need a new display assembly. Sadly, you can't transfer the backlight as the assembly as no one offers a raw LCD panel, only there assembly.
