Is it possible: New battery is more than 10 years old?
I bought a replacement battery and the instructions are really excellent. I was happy, that everything started. But now I get displayed, that the battery is manufactured in January 2011 — more than 10 years ago! That is new? Really? I am really concerned and asking myself, what to do. Is there a reasonable explanation for that?
As requested I show the Screenshot of CoconutBattery:
Before this I installed Battery Health 3:
Interesting, their manufacturing date differs slightly. At the beginning I had an old version of Battery Health 2 installed, which showed me the same day in January but in year 2011. How comes, that different apps show different dates? I expect Battery Health 2 having a bug, but the two apps shown in the screen shots differ a couple of days. Strange.
Best Regards,
Dirk
Is this a good question?

I bought a battery from iFixIt back in early 2021. When I fitted it that also showed manufactured in January 2011 and I was using Coconut Battery. When I asked IFixit about the problem they told me to disconnect my computer from the power supply and let the battery run right out before plugging it in again. when I did this the date changed to January 2021. However, the battery has now been in service a little over 12 months and this morning the Design Capacity is down to 47% and in the red, which means the battery needs changing again. The cycle count is 53. According to the internet the battery should last between 800 and 1000 cycles. I won't be buying any more batteries from iFixIt.
