How can I get back to root# command line read-write

I can only log in to my computer in command S single user mode due to GPU problems. I believe recently my computer updated or reinstalled high sierra 10.13.6 and now when I started up single user mode I am gettin -sh-3.2# instead of the :/root # , how can i go back to root command line? Fsck comes back OK, anything I type @ the -sh-3.2# returns command not found or device read only. Any Thoughts?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Are you able to boot up in Target Disk Mode?

Restart your system and press the T key. You should see either a FireWire or Thunderbolt icon on your screen do you?
