How Can I fix my D-Pad?

I have the limited edition Pokemon Switch lite. I believe I may have tipped over my water on the night stand and as a result of this my D-pad only works if you push EXTREMELY hard. As a result of this inconvenience I have stopped playing it because in certain games it just isn’t practical to put 20 pounds of pressure into my one finger to do certain things. Does anybody know how I can remedy this problem? I can confirm all directions can be pressed so it doesn’t seem as if it’s beyond hope to fix it, i Just don’t know and I don’t want to pay 90$ to Nintendo to just remedy this one tiny thing.
