Why am I not seeing SSD in Disk Utility after installing?

HI, I found a video on youtube about installing an SSD using an adapter that looked quite easy to install. But after doing this, I am not seeing the SSD in Disk Utility. He was installing it in the same Mac mini. I purchased this adapter. and purchased this SSD. I started up in recovery mode, and opened up DU, but only see the HD. Shouldn’t I see it at this point, in order to format it? I’m sure it snapped in fully, though I can recheck it again if that might be the issue. The SSD fit nicely inside the adapter. Did I purchase items NOT compatible?

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Rebecca
