I have an ASUS A53S laptop and 2 of the 3 USB ports are not working.

Can you think of a solution?

Hi @etxeko ,

Plug in a mouse or any other USB device that shows if power is connected e.g. mobile phone, flashdrive with a light etc, into the USB port and check if you get an indication of power from the port, e.g. mouse laser light turns on or a charging indication on a mobile phone

If nothing then check the USB power management setting in Device Manager hasn’t disabled the ports.

Go to Device Manager > click on the + sign to the left of Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand the list > right click USB Root Hub > Properties > Power Management and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” > OK

Do this for all USB Root Hub entries shown as I don’t know how many there are in your laptop and which ones may be associated with the faulty USB ports.

Then restart the laptop for the changes to come into effect.

Here’s an image what it looks like in Device Manager. This is from my desktop computer so the hardware is different but the USB entries and where to find the setting will look similar.

To get into Device Manager if Win 10 is installed, press the Win key + x key (both together) and then click on Device Manager in the menu options that open.
