iPod works but battery is not charging

Hi, the title may be wrong a little bit, but it’s true. To give as much information as possible i will tell the full story. Yesterday i got my ipod in the mail, and it had a few scratches but it was working amazing. Then at the end of the day i was working on a dock for it and i had my gloves on. When i reached for it it fell out of my hands but only on the desk, not the floor, because i kind of slowed it or catched it when it was flying. The iPod was alright, no new scratches to my surprise and everything was working as it should. But when i would wiggle it just a bit something would move inside, and i was pretty sure that the battery came loose. I have basic electric and electronics knowledge so i wasn’t exactly going into water when i couldn’t swim, but i knew it was deep. I just wanted to get it open, glue the battery and put everything back together. I saw some videos on youtube so i kind of knew what i was doing. I opened the case, unattached the cable from the battery and tried to put it back on, but to my surprise it wouldn’t turn on. I tried charging it but the battery was half full when i was opening it. I had the screen “Charging. Please wait” but when i got the battery out it was still showing that, so to my understanding it means that it’s probably not detecting the battery in some way. Everything else is fine because i didn’t even play with it and it worked fine before. And my only question is why is it not detecting the battery? I forgot how my battery was connected (in which way) but tried every combination of the ribbon cable and the connector and still nothing. I’ve looked again at the videos how the battery cable is oriented, still nothing. I have the plastic connector so that’s not the case. I’m wondering what is wrong? I’m out of ideas please help

anyway you can take some pictures and post them up?

make sure there are no bent pins and none of the components on the board that may have been knocked off. usually if itll try to power on with the batter out and nothing happens when its plugged in its usually a short.

Alright it wasn't charging but that was the problem of the brick. I wanted to switch it to charge my phone, and it wasn't charging, so I connected it to my PC and it turned on. I suspect the battery shorted as the new one works fine. I still have to see if it will charge alright and if everything is ok but it probably is, thanks for your answer and giving me a hint the battery shorted!
