OK first, I need to be sure I know what calculator you’re using. This question got moved under TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, but the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition does not use a rechargeable battery, it uses four AAA batteries.

Assuming you have the TI-84 Plus or TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, you should check that your main batteries are new and facing the right direction. You should check the backup battery as well while you’re at it. You should also verify that the contrast isn’t too low. Press the [on] button then repeatedly press [2nd] then the up arrow. A blinking cursor should appear after a few presses.

If none of the above work, then plug the calculator into your computer. If the computer recognizes the calculator was plugged in, then it still works, there’s something wrong with the display. If the computer doesn’t recognize the calculator was plugged in, then you’ve likely received a defective calculator and you’ll need to contact TI Cares and use your warranty to get a replacement calculator.
