What is the black paint like substance on the fan?

I took the fan out of the ps5 to clean it and used some isopropyl alcohol to clean the top side of it and it seemed to remove a layer of black ‘paint’ over the circle bit that covers one side of the fan? Does anyone know what it is or if its important? Thanks
