Try taking board out of phone for an hour, then reconnect all cables carefully.

I'd cautiously tell you that it may be the power source, your battery. I've had every iPhone and in a few cases, my phone wouldn't power on at all or would only power on when docked. In both cases, the battery was either faulty or expired.

I'd look into replacing the battery, unfortunately, I'm not too familiar with replacing the 3G battery...

Good luck.

Hi mark, some iphones get confused and lockout the display, you need to open the phone back up, remove con 4 and the logic board screws then gently lift the bottom of the board up slightly away from the battery, This will disconect the power from the board and shut off the phone. reverse this process to re asemble the phone and power it up. if you cant remove the logic board screws with front panel ribons connected then remove very gently cons 1,2 and 3. be very carefull with con 3, there will be a very small tab clip on the con block, open this tab before removing the ribon cable. when the screen is off carry out the power removal as above.

you had it open.. did you remove front screen ribbon cables X3 to check out phone ?.

check 3x connectors are all ok.. Also check connector 4 is firmly pushed home (Down onto logic board) as this could be your problem.. Had a few in as faulty but connectors needed checking.. all ok now.
