Error code E5 half frozen ice

Hello I have a Maytag mft2574dem01 and the icemaker was making partially frozen ice with an error code E5

I believe the E5 code for my model is about the thermistor. I replaced the icemaker module thinking that the issue was with the icemaker thermistor. After 24 hours I still get the error code and wet ice after the repair so now I’m thinking that there is another thermistor in the freezer that needs to be replaced?

also my evaporator fan is making some noise but the diagnostic test says it’s working and the temperature in the freezer is cold as well as the fridge section

help!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi,

Check that there is continuity of the wires from the ice mold thermistor back to the control board just to make sure that it is being registered by the control board.

Here’s an image taken from the tech sheet that shows where it goes to.

Also check what the actual temperature in the freezer compartment is as shown by a thermometer and not the refrigerator’s display panel, just to see if they match up OK.

Hi there Jayeff, well the freezer temp is about 11-12 F and I have it set at -1 and I noticed a loud fan sound when I open the freezer.. so im thinking i need to replace the Evap fan and Thermistor? what do you think. I was not able to test the current as I dont have a tester at home. Thanks!

@Relax Lounge

Worth checking anyway.

Normally the evap fan should stop when the door is opened and start again when it is closed as you don't want to blow any cold air out of the compartment. It's inefficient as it makes the compressor work longer to get the temp right again. Also if the evap fan or fan blade (loose?) is faulty it means that the air won't be blown though the compartment properly which means that it won't be cooled properly

If the fan is iced over,you have a defrost problem
