When stopped my Ford Escape smells hot when heater is on
Why does my 2008 Ford Escape smell like it's running hot while my heater is on and I am stopped at a red light…

It might be a coolant leak in the heater hoses or possibly the heater core. Most vehicles have a shut off valve in the the heater lines so when you aren't using the heater coolant is not going through lines enough for you to smell it. I would look for a leak and definitely look at the valve in the heater hose, those tend to leak. Good luck

What's the temperature gauge showing on the instrument panel when the vehicle is stopped at the lights - normal operating temp or hot?
Is the heater blower fan still operating when stopped at the lights?
