Sata power cable for iMac17,1

Hi :)

I want to add a SATA SSD to my Late 2015 27” iMac (iMac17,1) that came with only a PCIe/NVMe blade drive. I need the SATA cable (data + power) to connect to the mainboard. I found this: iMac Intel 27" 5K (Late 2014-Mid 2015) Hard Drive Cable

But I'm not sure it is compatible with my iMac since it seems to be designed for earlier models. However, the cable might be identical?

Let me know where I can find the required cable.

I could use a standard SATA cable for data but the power connector for SATA drives on the mainboard looks unusual.

I’m familiar with assembling and disassembling this iMac. Thanks for the help and advice.

Best,

Hi Julien - I am in the middle of doing this and can't work out where the power part of the cable needs to connect - can you advise - my main board only appears to have two connectors on it.

Thank you julien - it turns out i'd bought the wrong sata/power cable so have quickly ordered the corrcet one as my IMac is currently in bits !! thanks for your quick response though

Of course! My pleasure.

Good luck with the new cable.

On my end I gave up and bought an adapter so I could fit a standard M.2 NVMe SSD into the port with the proprietary connector from Apple. It was actually cheaper in my region.
