Overheating Issue In Google Meet

Every time I load up Google Meet, the back of my laptop keeps reaching hot temperatures. It’s not just a one-time thing, it happens every single day. I’m not sure why this happens but, I've done some digging and I found that the battery and everything is located on the back of the screen.

Hi @zeku_ ,

Not wishing to pry but how many tabs are open at the time on the laptop or how many participants are there when using Meet?

Here’s the system hardware requirements for the software - see hardware recommendations

According to the specifications that I could find online your model has only 4GB of memory

It may be that your PC doesn’t have sufficient memory to cope and it is only coping by utilizing all the resources it can and this creates heat.

I have 2 tabs open, G-Mail and G-Meet. There are around 36 members in there. The settings are 360p receive and 360p send. My laptop has 4 GB Ram and also 2 cores. My friend's recommended 8 GB Ram and also 4 or more cores.

Looks like your model has insufficient ram to prevent it getting hot when using Meet

Unfortunately the ram in you laptop is hard mounted on the motherboard so it cannot be upgraded.

The laptop either came with 4GB or 8GB so the only way to upgrade it is to replace the motherboard or get another laptop with better hardware specifications and that can also be upgraded to cope with future software requirements.

8GB of ram is about the minimum default value these days to cope with all the software and also a 64-bit OS i.e. Win 10 64-bit and not Win10 32-bit as -32bit OS only recognizes 4GB ram anyway

I upgrade it to 8gb ram it works great now with minimal overheating.
