Why do purple lines appear past 25 degrees?

My computer is showing large, vertical purple lines (and one grey/green one) but only when I open the screen past 25 degrees. When I close the screen below 25 degrees, everything works fine. I have had a few different problems with this computer in the past which have been fixed under repair programs (keyboard replacement and display backlight repair).

Well, thats a bit of good news! Your display is only effected.

You likely cooked your T-CON board which has been a problem in this series. Sadly, it’s been a big problem so you can only get new display assemblies!

Here’s the guide to replace it: MacBook Pro 13" Function Keys Late 2016 Display Assembly Replacement

Here’s a bit more on the why Screen issues - white/negative screen fixes itself after update In your case the tilting of the lid is either cutting off the air flow or adding stress to the T-CON board connections.
