Mid 2012 model, A1278 / 2.5 GHz i5 or 2.9 GHz i7 processor.

Operating System Error-OS doesn't connect at start up

I have a 13” MacBook Pro, mid 2012 that loses the operating system intermittently. The indication is a grey screen with either a folder icon with a question mark, or the universals 'no' symbol. Prior to these incidents, the lap top will often become noticeably hot. So far, the condition clears itself after multiple restarts. I just. installed the 'memory maxxer Ram upgrade kit' in hopes that additional RAM would clear the problem. The issue continues after installation of the kit

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Which model do you have 13" or 15"

Also is the system still using a HDD or did you upgrade it to a SSD?

You’ll need to replace the HD cable and apply a piece of electricians tape on the uppercase Your Hard Drive Cable Is A Ticking Time Bomb

Here’s the needed part: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable and the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Hard Drive Cable Replacement

I also find people tend to damage the new cable when they try to install it. Whats important is you don’t want to crease it as the hard fold damages the thin foil wires within the cable. Instead I use a old BIC pen ink straw as a forming brake as I don’t want the bends to exceed the radius of the straw for the needed bends around the corners.

This cable connects a SATA I, SATA II, or SATA III hard drive to the logic board. Image
