Replace a single key?

So my “T” key is loose. Pops off, can put it back in as many youtube vids describe, but it inevitably comes loose again. Maddening.

Now I assume I’m covered under this program:

https://support.apple.com/keyboard-servi...

But I use this thing daily, and there’s no good options for a quick replacement. I’ve found some places that sell single keys… anyone used them or have any shop you’d recommend (ifixit only sells the entire keyboard or keyboard + upper case)?

Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Sorry no easy fix you need a new key and keycap parts. You’ll need to go cold turkey for a few days ;-{ sorry

Get to the Apple Store or authorized service center (Call Apple for an appointment)

I believe I can get a new keycap and the butterfly piece, there are a number of vendors selling these.

But if you must MacBook Pro 2016 - 2017 KeyCap parts Read the Red Warning!

Look at it this way... If you mess up it will cost you $310 for a new upper case 13" MacBook Pro, Top Case & KB US - Silver, Apple P/N 661-07947 and then you likely need a new battery as well MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Function Keys, Late 2016-2017) Battery for an additional $150 = $460 total and that's just the parts! And don't forget all of this will will keep you down much longer too!

I still like FREE over $$$

Turns out there's a bunch of people selling single keys (complete w/butterfly mechanism as well) on ebay. They're clearly just buying keyboards and then parting them out. Not a fun replacement though.

True! That was the first link I posted MacBook Pro 2016 - 2017 KeyCap parts I still prefer free! As it is more than the cost of the part if you mess up then you could end up having a bigger mess!
