I am receiving a “no signal” message

I am trying to hook up my new Epson 4K projector into my pioneer VSX-822 receiver and I get the message “no signal” in my HDMI 1. No clue why. Researched online didn’t get some much which is making me think the HDMI connection isn’t working. Really hoping I didn’t have to buy a new receiver. It’s 8 years old.

Hi @lizotte ,

The projector should be connected to HDMI out while the signal source is connected to the appropriate HDMI input. (see p.25-26 of the user manual

What is the setup for the projector, receiver and signal source?

Update (12/29/2020)

Hi @lizotte ,

Just verifying that it stopped working when it was connected to the old projector as well, is this correct?

Do you get a display if you connect to a TV in lieu of the projector?

Has the signal source been changed at all? Can you try another HDMI signal source e.g. dvd player, laptop computer etc and see if that works OK?

Here’s the service manual for a VSX-822-K which hopefully may be of some help. Be patient when going to download it as it takes a little while to go from processing to Download, after you have clicked on the I’m not a robot security checkbox and clicked on Go to Download, below the Document preview box.

On p.38 there is the HDMI troubleshooting flowchart which may be a good place to start.

Yes that is correct and how I have it connected. Still no signal. Starting to think my 8 year old receiver isn’t working correctly. It worked with my old projector until about 4-5 months ago.
