2 USB-C ports (top left and top right) not working

Hello, 2 of the 4 USB-C ports have stopped working (top left and top right), though top left sometimes will intermittently work. The diagnostic from Apple store says they still receive power, which means they’re not completely fried or disconnected.

I was in vietnam for most of 2020, using my laptop without a power converter, because it was my understanding that the 87w power cable automatically regulated the power coming in. I also plugged a USB to HDMI converter into one of the ports, and noticed this issue show up shortly after that. Any thoughts? Do I need micro-soldering skills to replace the ports myself?

There is two issues here the physical port getting worn or damaged or the power/interface logic which is part of the logic board.

Replacing the physical port will require taking out the logic board to gain access to the screws that hold it and offer the needed clearances MacBook Pro (A1989, A1990, A2141, A2159, A2251, A2289, A2338 Mid 2018-2022) USB-C Board Sadly, we don’t have a guide to take the logic board out of this exact model but its not overly hard. Beyond that you’ll need deeper skills to diagnose what Intel JHL7540 Thunderbolt 3 controller or Texas Instruments CD3215C00Z (power controllers) need replacing.

To try to figure things out I would get a good USB-C power meter
