iPhone 7 home button not working after battery replacement, no "shake"

Block Image

Just to add on, it does not say anything like "touch id fail" and I can change the "home button haptic to 1 2 or 3" but not feeling any shake when I press the button. " Samething, my finger prints are there but sensor don’t read my finger print(login screen won’t get in). It also does not have the “shake” feeling/ any response when I click on home button. Try adding new finger print will stuck on the image shown page without reading my finger print / having the “shake “ response that usually happen when adding finger print.

I did a battery replacement to my iphone 7. I turn the device off prior and disconnect the battery prior to begin. What I did is unscrew the tapic engine and fold it halfway then remove the battery. I did not disconnect the screen or touch screen cable all in the whole process. The screen was intact the whole time. However after I put everything back together, the screen works perfect but my home button is not working. ++++No tear or rips either. Any idea on how to fix this issue please? Thank you

You have most likely damaged the home button flex that goes from the screen to the motherboard. I know you said there are no tears but sometimes you can only see the nick under a microscope and if you didn’t remove the screen whilst replacing the battery it would be the only explanation besides inserting an opening tool to far in where the home button and flex is which would be a more costly repair than another screen.

Thanks for reply. Just to add on, it does not say anything like "touch id fail" and I can change the "home button haptic to 1 2 or 3" but not feeling any shake when I press the button. " I am very confused at how the flex will be damaged if ...I did not even remove the screen and since I did several... this looks really strange to me. Apple change the home button to a different mechanism that it is no longer a physical button clicking, so I wonder if you know how the home button works without the click? Ty

Actually, I was about to try the screen on another iphone 7. But while using the same screen plier, this time it rips the cable. So... Nevertheless I try it onto another iphone 7, it reads the screen but not homebutton and it say touch id fail. While, the 2nd cable that is closer to the frame is ripped and not installed, the touchscreen and display is still working.... So it actually might be cable issue... I am ordering a replacement screen to see if it works. so sad.....
