Philip Gibson how long does it stay black? Does it immediately turn back on? Do you keep the sounds while the picture turns black? What have you checked? Disconnected any peripheral like Firestick, cable/sat box? Tried the other input sources and did that make a difference? Your TV is a LG 60LM6450?
Most common issues with LG and the screen going black while maintaining sound is the failure of the backlight strip
