Touch screen partially faulty

I am confused, first off, what is a LCD and a digitizer? My ipod doesn't unlock by just a little. so can my screen be replaced? All I really want is a low price, and to keep the same ipod I currently have, but with a better screen. Please help :(

The LCD is the part that does the display, your screen so to say. The part that converts your touch to command is the digitizer. So if your display is good but your touch is weird, its your digitizer. iPod Touch 4th Generation Front Panel Replacement
