If your system is slow and is functioning poorly, it can be because of a myriad of reasons (not enough hard drive space, virus infection, corrupted files on the hard drive, etc.).
Troubleshooting the exact cause can be tricky and time consuming, so it may be easiest/fastest to run an antimalware scan and then reset the device. Remember to back up your important files first.
You can perform a PC reset by opening the Settings app, clicking on Update & Security, and then choosing the Recovery option in the list on the left. Under “Reset this PC”, choose Get Started and follow the prompts.

How much free space is available? If not much try deleting any unnescessary files and reboot.
