Can I use an American logic board in a British iPhone?

I bought an Iphone 3G on ebay, sold as faulty with the intention of patching it up. It doesn't turn on, isn't recognised by itunes and doesn't respond to a reset.

I've replaced the battery and it's made no difference. I'm think I need a new logic board and it's looking cheaper to get one in from the US but does anyone know if this would work in a British iphone made up of British parts?

it should work..you will need to have it unlocked (factory) or jailbroken/unlocked to work on UK networks but that should be the only difference.
