Dell XPS 15 9570 CPU GPU repasting

Hi, I’d appreciate any instructions to use the ifixit kit to repaste the Dell XPS 15 9570 laptop. Thanks

Pick the one you like. Some offer more details than others - some too much.

Remember clean off old heat paste with 99-100% isopropyl alcohol (i.e. no water unlike disinfectant which is 70%)

and do not use too much heat paste! You just want enough to fill the microscopic pits in the surface of the chip and the heat sink.

Just to add to the answer.

Here's the service manual for the laptop from this webpage.

Go to p.41 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the heat sink which will allow you to refresh the thermal paste on the CPU

The manual states that the screws holding the heat sink must be removed in a sequential order and that a 5th screw is covered by tape and must be uncovered and unscrewed before the heat sink will come out.
