HI!
My roomba 980 is only 6 months old, it will not dock to recharge and goes past the invisible walls. Its carpet boost works fine and seems to be running well otherwise. Roomba customer service sucks, they will not repair it because its refurbished (THEY sent me refurbished one after initial purchase came broken). I have recently serviced it. Any advice welcome!

The IR sensor located on the front bumper is broken. That”s why it can’t see infrared and goes past barriers. Mine had the same fault and the entire front bumper with sensor were replaced. Look for ‘roomba 980 front bumper’, it should be easily found online and costs perhaps some forty bucks.

Thank you! I've had a devil of a time with those IR sensors, and it had never occurred to me that I could just replace the bumper.

It is probably the fault of the IR sensor at the front of the Roomba.
this shows the sensor, it is the small clear circular object at the front.

the invisible walls and the dock have the same IR transmitters.
