What is wrong with my screen?

Hello,

I have some damage to my screen and wondered if anyone could tell me what would need replacing to fix it?

It hasn’t been knocked or dropped and has just been sat on my desk for years and so I assume this is general wear with age. It looks like the LCD screen itself has degraded in part of the screen.

This series has a sizable gap between the backside of LCD panel and the backlight reflector (the backlight LED’s them selves are mounted along the bottom edge).

I’m suspecting a critter got in and you are seeing the remains which settled at the bottom.

While you could open up the sandwich to get to it you might just want to see if you can get a small hole through the tape to aim a can’ed air snorkel to give it a quick blow to push it out of view. Don’t over do it and make sure you hold the can so no liquid is propelled out.

Or, just leave it alone.
