iPod nano 3rd with bad flash memory?

I have an iPod nano 3rd with a good LCD that boots into nothing, just a white screen. Diagnostics not available either. I suspect a corrupted or dead flash memory. I’m thinking of desoldering it and checking with a tsop48 programmer. Any ideas what else might be an issue? Any ideas on what are some good replacement memory chips that are compatible? I have some old 8gb nand from iPod nano 4th generation.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@deadmac2012 have you tried to reisnatll the firmware? Does your computer "see" the iPod? Try something from this site to reinstall the firmware.

@oldturkey03 Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately it doesn't show up on my Mac or PC, so I can't update the firmware.
