Cracked screen affecting touch

My Note8 has a cracked screen and areas of the screen (near cracks) are not responsive. Display is fine. Does this 100% mean my LCD is damaged or would cracks in the glass affect touch too?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Thanks for your reply, Ethan. The issue is more about the type (cost) of repair. My dilemma is that I'm being told that since parts of the screen do not respond to touch, there MUST be something wrong with the LCD. I'm wondering if the glass being cracked and parts not responding to touch, could be just glass repair or LCD too...

if your touch does not work you have to replace the whole screen as its one whole part

The part is called a display assembly. The touchscreen and display are adhered and cannot be replaced separately. There are some that change the glass with a very thin wire but this is not always 100% also this method is not used in official service centers.
