Hi, so today i hopped on my mac, started working on my stuff and i noticed that copying and pasting was glitchy, some of my commands didnt go through and all of a sudden i was not able to copy and paste at all. I checked the keyboard viewer and it seems like my mac does not recognize my left cmd key, the right cmd as well as all other keys are working. Any ideas of what could be going on? Thanks.

So, I have found a couple of things that may happen. I have had verrrry small rock’s or flakes of metal bridge between two pins on a keyboard connector and cause it to be all wonky and not work with certain keys. The other thing that could have gone wrong would be that the keyboard needs to be replaced entirely. I would check and make sure the connector is clean and try to re-connect it first.

A single key might be an easy fix. Carefully lift the keycap and using some 85% or better Isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab (Q-Tip) clean the area as best as you can. Make sure you don’t flood the area! Moist, not wet is all you’ll need.
