Tronsmart mega not charging

Bought in 2018, I love this speaker. However last week the battery was low, so I plugged a charger cable in. The MODE light lit up red continuously and I thought it was charging. However it soon went completely flat. Whenever I plug the charger in, the MODE light is steady red, and after a while goes into flashing red. But no charge. Any answers? Thank you

denis beedi this” Whenever I plug the charger in, the MODE light is steady red, and after a while goes into flashing red” sounds like it does what it supposed to d. It appears as if you are having issues with the battery not taking a charge. I suggest you replace it and then re-evaluate. With that you would at least have a known-well starting point for further troubleshooting.

The real cause is dying battery. The good thing - battery in these speakers is made from two 18650 Li-Ion cells, connected in series with 2S BMS/balance board. Pretty easy to make a new battery from good 18650 cells, especially if you have working spot welder. But you can solder a new battery, from fresh 18650 cells in series, using a solder with low melting point. Use original 2S BMS board and connect cells to the board in same spots..

yup, can confirm that this is the solution. Prying out the the solder tabs and soldering back without a spot welder is a bit tedious work but manageable. the battery holders are very convenient and allow some room for a sloppy solder job.

one thing tho, there are 4x18650 batteries connected as two parallel pairs in series (sorry if that doesn't make sense technically but i hope you can tell what i mean lol).

UPDATE: Nope, i take it back. The batteries i removed seem to be doing ok and it might have been the charging port all along bc right now it's not charging consistently even though i replaced all of the batteries and the charging port is actually very loose.

Another update: The charging port does seem to be the issue. More specifically, the barrel seemed like it slightly caved in from the seam. I used a toothpick to push up a bit and close the gap at the seam. Looks like it helped and it's charging/drawing power from the adapter now.
