When you say the system starts, do you hear the Windows sound or you just assuming because the fans are rotating?

Hi @dube8 ,

Does it do this as well when the charger is connected and switched on?

Wondering if it is a corrupted BIOS problem which is preventing a normal start. When you hold the Power button for 10 seconds this resets the BIOS back to default settings, until the next time. Try holding it for 30 seconds and check then if it starts at the first attempt after it has failed to start.

You may have to open the laptop and disassemble it to see if there is a coin cell CMOS battery connected to the underside of the motherboard or not.

There aren’t any videos on YouTube for your model that show the underside of the motherboard (or none that I found anyway) but on a lot of Asus laptop motherboards there is a coin cell, non rechargeable Lithium battery that is used to maintain the BIOS settings when the laptop is off. When the battery gets low i.e. <2.6V DC, the BIOS can become corrupted due to power fluctuations etc The battery is usually a CR2032 type and lasts about 3-4 years.

Here’s an image of the CMOS battery in an Asus GL753 just to show what it looks like. The motherboard had to be removed from the laptop to access the battery because it is on the underside.
