Can I replace the DC-in jack?

When I try to charge my R11, the power cable sits very loosely in my device, and it will only charge when held at an angle.

Hi @joboy ,

You don’t have to replace the motherboard only to remove it from the laptop case to work on it but you would need to have smd (surface mount device) soldering skills and tools to do the repair.

Here’s a teardown video of the laptop. It is useful as it shows how to disassemble the laptop to remove the motherboard so that the DC-In jack - supplier example only can be be resoldered to the motherboard if it is just loose or replaced if necessary.

Here’s a video that shows how to replace the DC-In jack on the motherboard. I realize that the laptop in the video is not the same model but the procedure is the same.

If you find that doing this yourself is too daunting a task, contact a reputable, professional laptop repair service and ask for a quote.
