Sony TV: Got sound but no visual.

My Sony Bravia just stopped showing visual display. Audio is working. 3 days before, the family noticed that the audio suddenly went real low and we had to increase the volume manually. the volume controls did not increase the volume as much as they used to before. The number on the screen used to change but no change in audible volume.

Now the visual display does not even come up. I can hear the audio, via external speakers. What steps do I need to take to troubleshoot the issue?

Answer this question I have this problem too

@jersey_guy the audio is controlled by the main board (that is where the audio IC is). take a good look at the main board and check for any charred, missing or otherwise damaged component. Post some good pictures of your boards with your question. That way we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question

Check if you have any audio while you are using headphones and if you have a sound bar etc. connected you do want to disconnect it as well. Verify for us that your TV is a Sony Bravia KDL-XBR9

Hi @jersey_guy ,

Just to add to the answer, shine a torch at an angle close to the screen to see if there is are any image at all when the TV is on and you have audio.

If there are images visible (they will be very faint, so try in a darkened room to help see them better if they are there) then there may be two problems, backlight and audio which may put it back to a power problem.

Here's the service manual for the TV which should help.
