Kodak star 500 AF won’t turn on?

Hi, I bought a cheap film camera and it won’t turn on with batteries but I readjusted batteries and suddenly it did. I don’t know what I did for it to turn on and can’t seem to redo it… any advice on what might be wrong and how I can fix it?

Hi @goodboi5 ,

It sounds as though either the battery terminals in the camera may not be exerting enough tension on the batteries when they are inserted or there isn’t a good electrical connection due to corrosion or loose connections

Check that the camera’s battery terminals are bright and shiny and are exerting enough tension on the batteries when they are inserted. Sometimes the problem may be with the battery compartment door not pushing down on the batteries hard enough. Try pressing down on the battery door and turning on the camera at the same time.

If it looks OK and still doesn’t work, maybe the battery terminal connections have been corroded possibly due to leaking batteries in the past.

The camera would have to be disassembled and inspected as to what the cause may be

Thanks for your reply, I'd previously tried readjusting batteries and giving battery compartment a good squeeze in different areas but it did nothing, however today I tried again and it just turned on and seems to be working fine. So fingers crossed, it stays working. Thanks again for your reply :)
