GE refrigerator water dispenser and lights

Hi. the water dispenser and lights of my GE Profile refrigerator model PFSS5RKZH-SS started to work erratically a couple of days ago. Symptoms are like this:

  1. Water dispenser doesn’t work. The light turns on when pressing the water button in the left front door, but no water comes out
  2. When pressing the button to dispense ice cubes or crashed ice and then pressing the handle to get ice, the lights in the control panel turn off and on continuously until I stop to press dispenser handle
  3. When I open the top doors, not interior lights turn on. But when I open, in addition to the top door, the bottom freezer door, all the interior lights turn on. The intensity of the lights is low though
  4. When I close the freezer bottom drawer, the interior lights go off
  5. Some times, when trying the water dispenser, I get water once, but then when I try again, no water is dispensed. Also some times when I open the top doors, the interior lights turn on, but then when I close the door and open it again right away, again lights won’t turn on

I’ve tried unplugging the refrigerator and waiting for 10 minutes before plugging it back in, but then the front door panel lights keep turning on and off for a while and if I open the doors, the interior lights also rapidly turn on and off.

The problem started two days ago when there was a storm. Not sure if related or just a coincidence.

I’ve read others describing similar issues and pointing to the control board needing to be replaced. But my symptoms are also somehow different so I wanted to check if others have experience exactly the same and if replacing the control board (https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/p... ).

Any help or guidance is highly appreciated!

After trying with changing the light switches inside the refrigerator and finding that it didn’t fixed the issue, I decided to change the main control board. That was the problem. The control board was damaged and burned on the back. After installing a new one, the refrigerator is working like new.
