Xbox loses HDMI signal while running and is no longer detectable

So I ended up with my sister’s old Xbox One bc they couldn't get it to work and the family cat peed on it. I managed to get it working after disassembling it and generally cleaning everything the first time. It worked for about 2 hours, visuals and audio shut off and went to a no signal screen, and wouldn't come back on again. Took it apart again, deep cleaned everything including the fan, motherboard, and lightly the heat sink with 91% isopropyl (light corrosion on the metal rungs) then 5% acidity vinegar on the metal panels on the places it was severely corroded and rusted under the heat sink from the pee (thankfully nothing on the motherboard or important bits besides the bottom of the xclip). Managed to get it booted up and staying on for about 5-10 minutes before it did the same thing.

I've tried different TVs, different cords, cleaning out the port with compressed air, and just letting it sit for a while unplugged but nothing seems to work. I also tried looking up different guides and searching forums but so far I haven't found anything that works. It still powers on, there just isn't any signal as far as I can tell. I can't tell if the port on the console is damaged somehow (tho everything looks ok) or if it's something else.

Also as a side note, since the second cleaning, on some startups while trying to figure out the visual issue, the fan will run super hard for a few seconds and sounds like a rocket taking off before slowing back down to regular speeds. Also can't find anything on that. At this point I'm honestly just tempted to go trade it in at Gamestop since everything is clean and it works beyond that, but I still want to try and fix it. Any help or advice would be super appreciated.

EDIT: Pictures of the port, where its soldered on, and the model number of the motherboard

@jabberlocked … the signal is cutting out to black due to a bad hdmi controller. the audio is cutting out only because the hdmi carries this audio signal through the same output signal.

Youll want to inspect your hdmi port for any damage to the pins. If seen, want to replace those as well.

The reason your fan is going rampant is due to air pockets in between your processor and heatsink. Im assuming you have replaced the thermal paste each time you opened it up. If not, this is the cause. when you lay a board down atop fresh paste, it squeezes out excess compound and air making a nice seal for dissipation. If you keep opening and laying it back on, air will become trapped as mentioned.

Youll want to open your xbox up again, take a good clear picture of your hdmi port (pins on inside and connection to motherboard. Also, take a clear picture of your boards model number and the controller chip directly above the hdmi port. with these we can help get you the parts you need.

I added the pictures you mentioned to the post. I'm super new to this kind of stuff, but I think I they're what you were asking for. Let me know if I got anything wrong or if I need to retake any of the pictures and I'll add them in as soon as I can. As far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the pins that I can see comparing them to other examples, but I very much could be wrong and have missed something.

I also went back and put new thermal paste on just to make double sure, and that seemed to do the trick! I think the first time I was reassembling everything I must have done something wrong when fitting everything back together, but reapplying and reattaching it seems to have solved the fan problem.

@jabberlocked ... thanks. thats what i needed. ill start looking over the boards and ports. i am assuming that you have already done basic troubleshooting? (tried to reset resolution, hard reset, etc?) if not we need to start here. let us know.

test low resolution mode: hold down xbox button and eject button at same time until boots up. see if there is image.

@jabberlocked ... bad news, the original xbox does not have its own retimer chip. the hdmi video and audio is controlled directly by the apu. this means there is either a short on the circuit apart from the processor or its the processor itself. (this is more likely with what you described in your post about the corrosion)

what you could try:

with the proper tools (heat gun/ hot air station, flux) you could try to reflow the chip to clean out corrosion from under the chip and create cleaner connecting solder. (google/youtube reflow) if this fails, a repair company can reball the chip and determine where the short is coming from after removing the chip when reballing. no chip no short? it was the chips connection. no chip still short? theyll be able to find and fix.

other than these, its paper weight i.m.o. all youll be equipped to attemt is the reflow. DO NOT bake your board.

Dang that sucks. I don't feel comfortable enough to try and reflow it without damaging it further and I don't have the proper tools to do so anyway, so I guess I'll just have to accept the loss and call around to price repairs or just suck it up and trade it in. It's put up a good fight but it might be time to retire it lol. This has definitely been a learning experience in the very least. Thank you for your help with this!
