Any side effects of operating thelaptop without a battery?

This Macbook Pro was given to me sans battery. Has a fractured LCD support frame but it works. I propped up the LCD lid on a plastic jig. The thing works but given its state, I use it running on power adaptor only. The date of course has to be reset everytime I power on. Aside from this minor inconvenience, are there any side effects I should know? I seem to recall that the Intel processor won’t run at full speed, but the thing runs fast enough for me.

Your charger is not able to support your system when your apps need full CPU & GPU performance. Your system will conk-out corrupting your drive!

I strongly recommend you property fix your system. As this is in a fragile state both physically and data wise (corrupted drive)

A common issue in this series is the back shell becomes unglued to the lids mid frame and in some cases the frame its self cracks when in this state, It’s worth the gamble to fix the lid. Follow this guide to take the LCD panel out MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2009 LCD Replacement
