Battery had a small fire, can it catch fire again?

I was replacing the battery in an iphone se and the pull tabs broke so I attempted to pry the battery out, at one point the battery started smoking and a small fire happened for probably 3 seconds. The battery was almost fully dead at the time of removal. Is it safe to continue to pry it out and can it catch fire again?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

In my experience if they catch on fire it is only once. Take it out side and finish removing to be safe.

Agreed! A Damaged battery is too dangerous to leave in and you want to place the phone some where if it were to catch on fire it won't start a bigger fire while you wait for a new battery. Don't charge it either!
