Green light is blinking constantly, not remote issue

My 55” Bravia has an issue where the green light is blinking constantly, as if someone were hitting the remote over and over. Puts itself into demo mode, makes it impossible to use the remote as the input menu keeps popping up. Thought it was the remote but it happens even when the remote batteries are removed. We have an XBox and a Sling AirTV connected to the tv. We did a reset, tried new remote batteries, and can’t even get into the settings to check them. WiFi router is next to the tv if that matters. TV is about 3 years old.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi @fayley ,

Things to try:

Turn on the TV and then try turning off all the devices connected to the TV, one at a time (and leave it off as you go to turn off the next one) and check if the problem stops.

Hopefully this will identify which device may be causing the problem.

If it still persists when all are switched off, try blocking the TV’s IR receiver window (front left side of bezel below the screen - if you have a KDL-46HX855 that is) to make sure that no other IR signals may be causing the problem. Faulty CFL lights or fluorescent strip lights have been known to interfere with TV IR signal reception.

If it still persists, disconnect the power from the TV and remove the back cover. Locate the IR receiver board and check where it connects to the mainboard via a cable. Disconnect the cable from the mainboard. Beware of locking latches etc on the connector when trying to remove the cable. If it appears to pull straight out, pull it out by the plug or stiff plastic tab and not by the wires. Reconnect the power to the TV and turn it on using the TV control buttons and check that you can navigate through the settings etc OK when using them. The HOME button = Menu, use the CH Up/Dn and Vol. Up/Dn buttons to navigate through the menus

Be safety aware. Always disconnect the power from the TV when working in the back of the TV as there is exposed lethal AC voltage on the power board when the power is connected to the TV.

Please verify the model number of the TV. If the TV IR receiver module is faulty, the correct model number will be required to get the right replacement part.
