Hi,

The outage probably damaged some components on the control board, hopefully only a fuse and or a surge suppressor.

The microwave oven would need to be opened, inspected and tested as to what the actual problem is.

Microwave ovens are dangerous to work on if you don’t know what you’re doing! If in any doubt contact a reputable, professional appliance repair service.

The HV capacitor in the oven can store >6000V DC for many months, even if it has been disconnected from the power for this length of time. This voltage can seriously injure you. The HV capacitor needs to be discharged correctly as soon as it can be accessed after removing the microwave oven cover before commencing any other work on the oven.

Once the microwave oven has been rendered safe to work on, check the control board for any obvious damage to the components, i.e. blown fuse, burnt out components etc.

If you see any or even if not and you’re not sure, post some close up images of the control board, back here for further help. Here’s how to do this Adding images to an existing question
