Water Sprayer No Longer Working

Have a KitchenAid KDFE104DWH4 where the water no longer spraying during the wash cycle. There is a 9-1 error, which is the diverter, but we took the covers off and saw that it was turning during the cycle. There is a leak in the grommet/gasket, and we saw a little puddle of water under the diverter, so wondering if the water leak might be throwing something off (?).

The diverter seems to be sold separately from the gasket [which seems to be part of the sump housing(!) ]

Anyone else have this issue and have any solutions or suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @urbandweller

Have you checked that the spray arm outlets or manifold aren't clogged, you didn't say?

Yes, I did. They are not clogged. I did forget to mention that it does spray during the wash cycle intermittently. But most of the time, it doesn't.

I don’t think this applies to the exact scenario described here, but something I discovered on ours (after making sure that the spray arm holes were not clogged) was that there is a gasket on the middle spray arm manifold that is supposed to seal against the rigid plastic pipe at the back of the dishwasher compartment when you slid the middle dish rack into the dishwasher. That gasket had mostly disintegrated meaning that sometimes it partially sealed and sometimes it did not, with the result that there would not be enough water pressure to drive that middle sprayer. The solution is to replace the whole manifold for some exorbitant price. I opted to fashion a gasket out of a food grade silicone washer and jam it into the manifold.
