when uploading OS progress bar stops at 100% for hours

I am trying to revive my 2007 Macbook Pro so I replaced the broken HDD with a new Kingston SSD. However, when I try to install El Capitan the progress bar loads to 100% and will stay there for hours. I have left it at 100% for about 13 hours.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Are you trying to upload El Capitan via DVD? Is your DVD or CD drive damaged?

A common issue with this series is a replacement HDD/SSD drives data rate spec exceeds what this system can support. This hang condition you are encountering sound like the replacement drive is not the correct drive or it’s jumper setting is incorrectly set.

Here’s this series spec: 17” MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo

Note the Storage Interface: line this series interface is only designed to support 1.5Gbps (SATA I)
