Home button not working after replacing?

My iphone was water damaged and the home button stopped working so ive replaced it and it still doesnt work. What else could it be? Ive replaced it with 3 different ribbons now and nothing!!

Test to make sure that it is the home button that is the problem and not the docking connector assembly.

To do this, open up the (turned off) phone without disconnecting the three ribbon cables. Turn on the phone. Short the two contact pads on the top of the docking connector to simulate operating the home button.

If the simulated home button works, look at the connecting feet between the screen assembly and the docking assembly. If it doesn't, look into replacing the docking assembly.

Reading your description, I would guess that the docking assembly has been damaged.

Also, it is very easy to check Home Button Flex function whether installed in iPhone or not. Check electrical continuity when you push or squeeze the button. Pushing the button completes the circuit. If the Home Button functions and the two contacts are in good shape you do not need to replace the Flex.

Most probably a corroded dock connector. Try replacing it
