Home button and contacts

Ok, i already found this problem in a couple of threads but coudlnt solve the problem.

After tearing in peaces my iphone and checking the dock connector and reassemblying the phone, my home button stopped working.

I tried several methods but nothing worked. How does the home button get in contact and with what? From the home button there goes this small thin stuff to the right. On the end i see on the bottom side a small metal contact (3 stripes on it). With what does this have to be in contact? I tried to put it both on top of the square stuff on the left and underneath it. Both didnt work, tried to put it on top and press it on the thing on the right, didnt work.

Oh, on the speaker and microphone part, there are these three small metal brackets or what these are. They dont have any particural function, dont they, because they broke away and i lost those... :(. Cant immagine they having a importantn function given they just would get in contact with the bottom of the big metal plate.....

Help me out please.

Sorry for my bad english btw.

iPhone 4 Home Button Replacement and to quote "Before re-fastening the speaker enclosure to the inner frame, be sure the four small EMI fingers rest below the lip of the LCD frame." maybe they don't have a big function but they are there for a reason..

The home button has it's own flex connection on the midframe unlike the 3g or 3gs that you are thinking of where the flex had 2 gold prongs that made the contact with the dock connector. It's difficult to work out what you are putting where. Is the home flex in its FPC connector on the midframe?

i was talking about the part marked with the red arrow, as you can see its liften up a bit, and does not touch any part of the part marked in green, i tried to fix it with a adhesive tape to the ground so that it touches the green marked part (on the picture on the left side of the green part where there seems to be some contact stuff), but didnt help, i think i am getting something wrong here

thx for the help...

okay..your problem is that the "holder"(green arrow) for your home button isn't holding your flex ...the part you have a red arrow on is what I called the flex. It should slide into a plastic part(on top of those fine pins) that you then close a tab on(green arrow)- closing the tab pushes the flex into contact with the pins and creates the circuit. So next problem is how to sort it out. It's hard to see whether you have the closing tab on or not..at first I thought you'd broken it off. if you have broken it off I think you need the midframe..try google, I'm not sure ifixit sell that part.

iPhone 4 Home Button Replacement step 24 shows what you should have.. I think you have pulled the connection off.
