Ripped Ambient Light Sensor Face ID

Hello, I was working on another iPhone today and for the first time I ripped a flex cable. I ripped the cable connecting the ambient light sensor to the proximity and flood illumination. I was sure I have lost face ID but after booting up everything is normal. Should I just place the ripped sensor back in and call it a day? I have microsoldering skills but not great with flex cables and traces. I know that Apple disables the sensor when you replace the screen but I was just removing it to clean the glass underneath.

PS. I usually use heat to take the whole sensor assembly and plastic holder out but this time I didn’t need to transfer it over to a new screen so I tried to just pinch and remove the sensor. Noob mistake

Thanks for any help

I have included an image with a red line showing where the flex got torn.

The only option you have is solder the cable back together, put a new sensor assembly in it and lose face Id or take it to apple and have them repair it and program in a new sensor. They may try to swap out the phone if you go that route so back it up.

Thanks for the reply. I have decided to just put the sensor back in without soldering it. I can't afford to lose face ID and having look at the ripped part its too close to the flood illuminator. I could damage that during soldering and then face ID would be dead. Everything works just not the automatic brightness control which I guess is better than having no face ID. Thanks for the comment though I appreciate it

Just transfer over the original ambient light sensor to a new flex cable
